Pattern Drafting | Blazer

In this course, you will learn to make a basic block for a blazer that is tailored to your unique size, for both male and female figures. After creating a basic pattern block,  you can let your imagination run wild and design the exact blazer that you want to make. You will make a sample to get the fit perfect, while you learn all the techniques and finishes you will need in the final blazer (if you are lucky, this is a wearable sample!). This course includes some exercises from the Sewing Techniques Advanced, that we will ask you to do as homework in between classes. You bring fabric and sew your exclusive design, using some cool sewing techniques such as a welt pocket, breast pocket, back vent with lining, collar and lapel and a sleeve slit in two pieces with lining.

First class
Measuring your body; drafting the basic blazer pattern based on your measurements.

Second class
Discussing your desired design. Pattern drafting of the collar, lapel, facings and preparing the pattern.

Third class
Cutting, fusing and start making the sample,

Fourth class
Finishing the sample and fitting.

Fifth class
Adjusting the required changes to the pattern, draw the lining pattern.

Sixth class
Cutting, fusing and adding seam tape, and start of sewing of final version of the blazer.

Seventh, eight and ninth class
Construction the blazer, sewing

Tenth class
Attaching the lining and finishings. 

Possible continuation
The duration of the course is based on an average level of sewing skills and not-too-difficult fabric. It is also necessary for you to do some sewing technique exercises as homework. If you cannot complete the project within this time, you can purchase extra time with Sewing Club hours.

Classes are provided in English and Dutch.
