Lesson 1: Taking Measurements & Drafting a Basic T-Shirt Pattern

In the first lesson, you will learn how to take accurate body measurements and draft a basic T-shirt pattern that fits your body perfectly.

You will learn:

  • How to take all the essential body measurements (bust, waist, hips, shoulder width, armhole, back length, and sleeve length).
  • How to draft a basic T-shirt pattern for both the front and back.
  • How to draft a basic sleeve pattern.
  • Understanding seam allowances, grainlines, and pattern pieces.

Lesson 2: Cutting the T-Shirt, Making a Muslin & Adjusting the Fit

In this lesson, you will transfer your T-shirt pattern to fabric and evaluate the fit.

You will learn:

  • How to cut the T-shirt and sleeves from muslin (test fabric).
  • How to assemble the muslin garment.
  • How to assess and evaluate the fit.

Lesson 3: Taking Measurements & Drafting a Bodice Pattern + Sleeve Pattern

In this lesson, you will learn how to take accurate body measurements and draft a basic bodice block and basic sleeve pattern.

You will learn:

  • How to take body measurements for the bodice (bust, waist, shoulders, etc.).
  • How to draft a basic bodice block, adjusting proportions and fit according to your measurements.
  • How to draft a sleeve pattern, including different sleeve styles such as a straight sleeve and a sleeve with slight gathers.

Lesson 4: Cutting & Sewing a Muslin + Correcting Fit Issues

In this lesson, you will focus on cutting your pattern from fabric and creating a muslin (test garment).

You will learn:

  • How to cut and assemble the muslin for the bodice and sleeves.
  • How to evaluate the fit and identify common fitting issues (such as tight shoulders, a loose waist, or sleeves that are too long).
  • How to alter the pattern to correct these fitting issues for a perfect fit.

Lesson 5: Drafting a Basic Trouser Block

In this lesson, you will learn how to draft a basic trouser block.

You will learn:

  • How to take body measurements for trousers (hips, waist, trouser length, etc.).
  • How to draft a basic trouser block, adjusting the fit and silhouette to suit your body shape.
  • How to modify the trouser style (for example, straight-leg, slim-fit, or wide-leg trousers).

Lesson 6: Cutting, Sewing a Muslin & Correcting Trouser Fit

In the final lesson, you will create a muslin of your trousers.

You will learn:

  • How to cut and assemble the trouser muslin.
  • How to evaluate the fit and identify common fitting issues, such as tight hips, trouser legs that are too long, or an incorrect waist height.
  • How to alter the pattern based on your fitting assessment, ensuring your trousers achieve a perfect fit.

Classes are provided in English and Dutch.
