Do you have a stained piece, a garment with holes, or something in your closet that just needs a little more character? During this workshop guided by Lies van Putten from Melt Lab, you’ll transform your clothing through natural dyeing, patchwork and/or embroidery techniques.
You can:
✺ Cover stains by naturally dyeing your garment
✺ Make your own naturally dyed fabric patches to decorate
✺ Repair holes with embroidery
You can choose your own colors from our natural dye sample book and create something completely unique while learning about sustainable textile practices.
The workshop includes:
✺ A short introduction to natural dyes, fibers, and fabrics
✺ 3 hours guided workshop
All you need to bring is one old garment you’d like to repair, rework, or revive.
Please note: if you want to dye your piece, it is important to pay attention to the fabric of your item. Natural dyes are not really compatible with fabrics that are chemically processed like polyester or viscose. It works best on fabrics that are 100% natural like bio-cotton, linnen, silk or hemp.
