Discover the enchanting world of Javanese batik colet and create your own textile artwork using wax and color.

Workshop Details
In this 4-hour workshop at Atelier Aida, you will get acquainted with batik colet, a traditional resist-and-dye technique where patterns are drawn on fabric with hot wax and then hand-colored. Using a canting (wax pen), you apply liquid wax in lines, dots, and motifs. After that, you’ll hand-dye the fabric in a process called colet. This workshop is offered by The Batik Studio, led by Shannen.

Weven als Structuur en Expressie
Deze workshop introduceert weven zowel als een technische basis als een persoonlijke praktijk van zelfexpressie. Met verwijzingen naar Anatolische textieltradities en de rol van weven in het dagelijks leven van vrouwen, richt de sessie zich op structuur, ritme en interpretatie om decoratieve werken te creëren.

Workshopdetails
Tijdens deze 3 uur durende workshop bij Atelier Aida in samenwerking met Begum Aral leer je de basisprincipes van handweven op een weefraam. Na een korte contextuele introductie gaan we direct aan de slag met het maakproces.

Deelnemers ontwikkelen kleine geweven samples terwijl ze structuur, herhaling, dichtheid en kleurrelaties verkennen. Traditionele motieven kunnen als uitgangspunt dienen, maar de interpretatie blijft open — abstract, symbolisch of intuïtief.

De sessie richt zich op het opbouwen van vertrouwen door middel van praktijk en experiment.
