CONTENT OF THE COURSE

This workshop introduces weaving as both a technical foundation and a personal practice of self-expression. Referencing Anatolian textile traditions and the role of weaving in women’s everyday lives, the session focuses on structure, rhythm, and interpretation to create decorative pieces.

DETAILS
In this 3-hour workshop at Atelier Aida in collaboration with Begum Aral, you will learn the fundamentals of hand weaving on a loom. After a short contextual introduction, we will move directly into making.

Participants will develop small woven samples while exploring structure, repetition, density, and color relationships. Traditional motifs may serve as a starting point, but interpretation remains open to abstract, symbolic, or intuitive.

The session focuses on building confidence through practice and experimentation.

HIGHLIGHTS:
— Introduction to the basics of hand weaving
— Brief contextual background on weaving traditions and motifs
— Development of small woven samples
